FURUISIt’s warm reminder: when winter is coming, it is time to add antifreeze to diesel generator sets!

After entering the winter, the maintenance of diesel generator sets has become a concern of the majority of users. The editor has sorted out the main points of diesel generator set maintenance in winter and daily maintenance for your reading!

1. Fuel replacement

In general, the freezing point of the diesel oil used should be 3-5°C lower than the lowest temperature in the season to ensure that the lowest temperature will not affect the use due to solidification. usually:

  • 5# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is above 8℃;
  • 0# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is between 8°C and 4°C;
  • 10# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is between 4°C and -5°C;
  • 20# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is between -5℃ and -14℃;
  • 35# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is -14℃ to -29℃;
  • 50# diesel is suitable for use when the temperature is -29℃ to -44℃ or lower.

2.Choose the appropriate antifreeze

Change the antifreeze regularly and prevent leaks when adding. Antifreeze is available in red, green and blue. It is easy to find out when leaking. Once it is found, it is necessary to wipe up the leakage and check the leak to select an antifreeze with a suitable freezing point. Generally speaking, the freezing point of the selected antifreeze should preferably be low. At the local minimum temperature of 10 ℃, leave a little extra to prevent the sudden drop in temperature at certain times.

3. Choose oil with low viscosity

After the temperature drops sharply, the viscosity of the oil will increase, which may be greatly affected during cold start. It is difficult to start and the engine is difficult to rotate. Therefore, when choosing oil for diesel generator sets in winter, it is recommended to replace the oil with a lower viscosity.

4. Replace the air filter

Due to the extremely high requirements for air filter elements and diesel filter elements in cold weather, if they are not replaced in time, the wear of the engine will increase and the service life of the diesel generator set will be affected. Therefore, it is necessary to replace the air filter frequently to reduce the probability of impurities entering the cylinder and prolong the service life and safety of the diesel generator set.

5. Release the cooling water in time

In winter, special attention should be paid to the change of temperature. If the temperature is lower than 4 degrees, the cooling water in the cooling water tank of the diesel engine should be released in time, otherwise the cooling water will expand during the solidification process, which will cause the cooling water tank to burst and damage.

6. Increase the body temperature

When the diesel generator set is started in winter, the temperature of the air sucked in the cylinder is low, and it is difficult for the piston to compress the gas to reach the natural temperature of the diesel. Therefore, corresponding auxiliary methods should be used to increase the temperature of the diesel generator set before starting.

7. Preheat in advance and start slowly

After the diesel generator set is started in winter, it should run at low speed for 3-5 minutes in order to increase the temperature of the whole machine, check the working condition of the lubricating oil, and then put it into normal operation after the inspection is normal. The diesel generator set should try to reduce the sudden acceleration of the speed or the maximum operation of the accelerator during operation, otherwise the service life of the valve assembly will be affected for a long time.

In order to ensure the normal operation of diesel generators and prolong the service life, it is necessary to do daily inspection and maintenance work to ensure that the power supply can be in a good working state immediately when the power is cut off, without affecting the normal power consumption. First of all, you should do a daily inspection, mainly to check the following aspects:

  1. Check whether there is enough diesel in the fuel tank, whether the internal environment is clean and hygienic, and ensure that there is no air in the pipeline;
  2. Check whether the water or antifreeze in the water tank, and whether the engine oil is in the specified position;
  3. Check whether the circuit wiring is normal and whether the connection is firm;
  4. Check whether the liquid level of the battery is at the specified height and whether the power is sufficient;
  5. Check whether each component is running normally and whether there are sundries piled up;
  6. Check the generator for damage and leaks;
  7. Check whether the belt has loosened, or the degree of wear, and whether the rotary keys have been tightened;
  8. Check whether the mains circuit breaker is in the open state, and ensure that the mains and electromechanical do not overlap to avoid serious accidents.

In addition to the above daily maintenance, there are the following items that need to be checked every week.

  1. Check the air filter to see if the inner core needs to be cleaned or replaced;
  2. Release the water or impurities in the fuel filter and fuel tank;
  3. Check whether the battery is fully charged;
  4. Start the generator and check for proper operation.

Generators used in many industries are used as backup power sources. The characteristics of backup power sources are that they are not usually used and can be supplied in time when they are used. To achieve this effect, we must pay attention to the maintenance of diesel generator sets. Because the standby diesel generator set is in a static state for a long time, the various materials of the generator set itself will undergo complex chemical and physical changes with oil, cooling water, diesel oil, air, etc., so that the generator set will be “discharged”. Hope the above will help you!
